All in the translation March 26, 2009 Michael Matthews Has anyone corroborated or disputed Sitchin's translation? Have never heard anyone dispute this.
If this translation is even close it does make Sitchin's story highly credible. Only a culture that has experienced space travel could have authored this. Mentions sling-shot orbits around moon, quite consistent description of solar system unknown to our culture until recently.
Beyond all the Yoda English story is quite coherent and could have been written as a scifi fantasy today. Maybe Sitchin kept the word order to enable other translators to have a go.
Sitchin rocks! March 21, 2009 R. Baker (USA) I have read all 6 of the "Earth Chronicles" books and the "End Of Days" book. I bought this book and the "End Of Days" at the same time. I tried reading this book first and didn't make it past chapter two. It reads nothing like the other books that I have read by Sitchin. It is almost written as poetry. I am so intrigued and captivated by the theories put forth by Sitchin that it shocked me that I could be so turned off by a different writing style. I understand why he is doing it, I just couldn't get involved in it. I am on the last couple of chapters of the "End Of Days" and when I finish, I will try this one again. I don't want to discourage anyone from buying this book, I just want you to know that if you were able to read through the "Earth Chronicles" in a couple of weeks like I did, you may have trouble vesting in this book. Sitchin still rocks!
Good fiction March 1, 2009 J. S. Harbour (Arizona) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found many aspects of this book irritating, but cannot say it was not entertaining--as I did finish it. The reverse prose was jarring at first, but after a while the mind adapts and it begins to read like a normal story in one's mind. This is the story of the Anunnaki, a humanoid race living on the 10th planet called Nibiru, which has a 3600-year orbit around the sun. This alone renders the story as fiction, because beyond the orbit of Mars or so the sunlight is insufficient to warm a planet. Out beyond the orbit of Pluto, Nibiru's atmosphere would freeze--and a thick atmosphere would only make it worse for inhabitants. So, get this right from the start--Nibiru cannot and does not orbit our Sun. I tried to reconcile by thinking of Nibiru as another star system, and that there was an "error in translation", but since this is Sitchin's most predominant point to make in the book (and previous books about the Anunnaki) it renders ALL of the stories as fiction. I found it hard to read the final 50 pages, which dragged ON and ON... this guy impregnates a human woman; that guy kills his son-in-law; this guy is banished--then returns; the king of Nibiru visits Earth for no reason, then leaves; and on and on like a Days of Our Lives drama. In the end, one has to question this: If the Anunnaki have the technology to build interplanetary space ships, nuclear missiles, and genetically engineer humans, why do they need to import sheep, cattle, and wheat from Nibiru? It's all so ridiculous. A few non-commital comments were made about the pyramids.
