I have tried a lot of different laptop holder solutions, from trays that sit in your lap (like those crappy bean-bag style ones) to wooden trays on stand that slide up next to you etc... and this Logitech Comfort Lapdesk is the best thing in it's class.
First I want to address something that some other reviewers said they had a problem with - slipping. I have had NO problem with my Dell 1555 slipping or sliding on this when it's surface is CLEAN. That's right - if you wait more than a month to take five seconds and wipe it off with some Windex and a paper towel, then yes it might experience a tiny bit of slipping and sliding, but when it is kept clean my computer stays perfectly put, even at steep angles. One other thing some users might not have noticed - it comes with a sheer plastic peel-off protector, and I'm guessing some people are accidentally leaving the plastic protector sticker on the surface in which case there would definitely be some slipping and sliding.
PROS:
- Super comfortable and light, keeps your lap cool
- Perfect angle from just about any position
- Excellent construction and materials, high quality and sturdy
- Looks good, not gawdy
- Fits my 15-inch widescreen (Dell Studio 1555) laptop perfectly, with even a little over an inch of room to spare on each side, so I'm guessing it will fit most 17-inch laptops too
CONS:
- Expensive. Some might say overpriced. (but on the other hand, how do you label something overpriced when it works the best?)
Don't waste your money on those $20 foam-filled / bean-bag trays with the lights and cupholder gimmicks. They stink.
Definitely spend the extra few bucks and grab this, you won't be sorry.

 Comfortable but not good for optical mouse February 13, 2010

This is a very comfortable laptop desk. It keeps the heat off of my legs and my Dell Netbook fits on it perfectly with enough room for the mouse. My only complaint is that my optical mouse barely works on its surface and I have to use a mousepad or a piece of paper under the mouse for it to work. For this much money, it should work as is.
