Product Description Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is the sequel to the mulit-platinum solo debut, Hellbilly Deluxe. The album harkens back to that classic album with its music and artwork and is exactly what the Rob Zombie fan has been waiting for. Lead by the first single "Sick Bubblegum" the album picks up where the first Hellbilly Deluxe left off.
Album Description 2010 release, the long awaited follow up to Rob Zombie's debut solo album is both a first and a last: his first album for his new label Roadrunner, and - if you believe anything Rob Zombie says - the last CD he plans to release, claiming digital downloads have destroyed the concept of the CD format. Lead by the first single, "Sick Bubblegum", the album picks up where the first Hellbilly Deluxe left off.

| Customer Reviews:
Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is not a terrible album, nor is it great. Simply put,it's damn good fun with rocks most prominent zombie. March 21, 2010 Guy Young (Dayton OH) Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is more in the same spirit of Educated Horse's rather than the first Hellbilly Deluxe album. And despite my personal opinion that Horse's was Zombie's weakest album,I still find this outing worth listening to.
I think the majority of Rob's fans would agree with the statement that the music he's releasing now is not as monumental, nor as important as it was in his first solo album,it's follow up, "The Sinister Urge",or any of the White Zombie material for that matter. But after listening to this album on several occasions the one conclusion I have come to is that "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" is simply pure unapologetic fun.
It's not a master piece but it doesn't have be. Zombie changes up his patenant sound and creates more of a classic rock vibe for this album, but without sacrificing what makes him unique. Simply put,the songs have a somewhat classic rock sound (I dare say at times even a pop rock flare) but not without Zombie's mix of theatrical monster movie mayhem behind it.
It's different,but it's still Rob Zombie.
In previous recordings where you could imagine Rob meticulously placing each and every additional sound for a greater effect, HD2 seems more like Rob takes a band into his garage and just decides to rock out an album and deliver it cut and dry. Their are clearly exceptions to be found, but not as many as you would of found before on a Rob Zombie album.
Songs such as "Werewolf baby","Werewolf women of the SS",and "What" will all find their place on my mix cd next Halloween. Even if their not as epic and grand as the likes of "Dragula","Feel so numb",or "More human than human",they still manage to be fun to listen to and not as heavy handed as the more classic Zombie songs.
If I didn't know any better I would have thought "Mars needs woman" and "Virgin Witch" where actually covers of Alice cooper songs, simply on the vocaling styels Rob puts behind them. "The man who laughs" offered the biggest change up for me. Mainly due to the drum solo placed within the song. In todays modern rock scene such an act almost seems like suicide but I have to applaud Zombie and the band for the nice change up. It's nice to hear a song that rocks out for the sake of rocking out and not on the hopes of radio play. Though I never considered Rob Zombie that type of artist anyway. He's always marched to the beat of his own drum and has never worried about changing with the current trends and fads.
At best,Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is pure, horror rock fun infused with catchy choruses and great guitar work. At it's worst, one can't help but think this album is nothing more than Zombie making music to simply hold himself over until his next theatrical outing.
I don't see him losing any fans over this album but i certainly don't see him gaining any new ones either.
I want to give this album 4 stars but I simply can't find justification in doing so.
Perhaps a 3.5 is more appropriate.
In closing, if nothing else this album makes me curious to hear what Rob Zombie will release next. Will it be a stronger release or perhaps a bit weaker?
Regardless, one can't help but think Zombie is having a blast making music like this.
My guess is that as long as Rob is making movies his music is going to suffer to a certain degree. With Rob stating this will be his last release to make it on CD i'm guessing future releases will probably be single tracks that coincide with his future movie releases.
Regardless, I will still be listening.
RZ The Man March 19, 2010 Ice Man (Dallas, TX USA) This CD is definitely the best hard rock CD of the year so far. When I first listened to HBD2, it didn't do what Astro Creep and HBD1 did for me right out of the box. On second listen, after clearing my expectancy for a follow-up album to HBD1, I was hooked. The more I listen to this album, the more I think it's definitely one of his best albums. While it will never replace the aforementioned classics, it definitely should be on the same shelf. This CD shows RZ's versatility and his willingness to step out of his comfort zone to do what he wants to do. It also demonstrates what a master musician can do with any approach to a song.
The Cool Ghoul is Back March 8, 2010 Michael Costa (Chicago,, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let's face it, is anyone really disappointed that Rob Zombie didn't continue to explore the musical direction of "Educated Horses"?
Tongue-in-cheek ghoul-rock peppered with horror movie quotes is what he has always done best, all the way back to "La Sexorcisto..." with White Zombie, and this is a return in that direction.
What I really like about "Hellbilly 2" though, is listening to the great John 5 play within the Zombie template. He is one of the planet's most talented guitarists, and brings a diverse palate of sounds--metal riffs, country picking, slide guitar, surf licks, feedback squeals, and shredding solos--to Zombie's well-established formula.
