I got my Kindle at Christmas as a gift and I can honestly say I read much much more because it is so convenient! Before the Kindle, the bigger the book the more uncomfortable it was to maneuver especially if I wanted to read while reclining on a couch or in bed before going to sleep. This bothered me to the extent that I would only read books after they were in paperback,and I never wanted to stuff my purse with them. Now I can hold up this incredibly light Kindle with either hand, one handed mind you, and turn the page with the same hand I am holding it with! I find the screen not only easy to read (especially because the print size is so easily adjusted) that when I start reading I just melt into the story as if I were watching a movie. I tuck it into my purse before leaving home, and when I am stuck in a situation where I have idle time, like in a waiting room when my car is being serviced, etc., I can just pull out my Kindle and the wait time flies by because I am able to continue the book I am currently reading. By the way, I had an occasion to try out another electronic book reader at a book store, the same size as my Kindle, and it was NOT as comfortable OR as easy to use the controls. Yes, I love reading on my Kindle! I imagine a world where the school children can have their textbooks on a Kindle and greatly reduce the weight they have to carry in their book bags!

This is my first kindle so I am unfamiliar with any other generation and I am still familiarizing myself with this one, but so far -- I love it! I have read 2 books and I just love being able to carry it with me anywhere and access so many reading choices -- If I could improve on it, I would have a built in light for reading in the dark and I have yet to find a zoom to zoom in and out to look at the details on charts although I have found the ability to change the size of the print and this is a great feature--I set it large so I could read it faster. It would also be nice if there was some way I could print a copy of a page. I read some books with diagrams & workouts that would be nice to see closer and copy off for the gym but still --- I just love having so many books at my fingertips to carry with me in such a light weight package. I am extremely happy with the purchase. It is possible that the kindle does some of the things that I have listed and I am unaware. I have only had it a short time & have not spent enough time exploring the options to become completely familiar with all the choices.

This little device is incredible! Together with the Mighty Bright book reading light, I've discovered the joys of reading novels like never before. I've always been like my father: periodicals. My mother gobles-up novels left and right. Well, the kindle's electronic ink sold me! When I first received it, I thought the screen was a peel-off sticker...it was THAT clear!!! I bought my wife one, and she loves it too. Great product. Thanks!

It was an accident that I viewed Kindle Global edition. I read the reviews, checked the product, and asked people from the net who had this item. I am a teacher from the Philippines and I know that this would be very useful for me as an educator.
I checked on it again and tried ordering. Unfortunately, they still don't ship in the Philippines. I had to ask relatives who will come home and buy the kindle for me. Luckily, I had a good soul who brought my Kindle 6". Now, I am using it to present my lecture. It's very easy to use and very convenient. I presented it to our School Librarian and had it demonstrated to our colleagues. They loved the features such as: text-to-speech, PDF Reader, and even the font size enlargement. Right now I was able to store more than 100 books. Some of the books were free from amazon.com. These were still useful for me since some of these were classic tales such as that of Jane Austen. You can also check what's recommended for you and read other customers' feedback or items that they also purchased because these are also useful. When you know how to explore your gadget, you can truly maximize its benefits.
