Look Mom, no buttons! Garmin has taken simplicity to a new level with the c340. | The c340 is designed with simplicity in mind, although Garmin hasn't forgotten to add a touch of class. With a weight of under ten ounces and a width of 4.4 inches, the c340 is ultracompact and easy to transport. To keep confusion on the road to a minimum, the only buttons are a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch. The bright 3.5-inch-diagonal display features a touchscreen, making it a snap to input routing information and make quick selections on the road. The c340 sports dual integrated speakers for high-quality voice prompts, a USB port for PC connectivity, and an internal lithium-ion battery that provides power when you're planning your routes outside the car (approximately 4-8 hours battery life). In addition to an included 12-volt power adapter for in-car power, there's also an SD memory card expansion slot for use with other Garmin MapSource mapping products. The unit is secured by a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield, allowing for easy portability between vehicles. You can even customize the c340's appearance with optional colored faceplates that suit your style. While the c340 has an internal GPS antenna, it also has an MCX-type connector for hooking up an optional external GPS antenna. Finding your way with the c340 starts with inputting a location on the touch screen. Next, the unit's text-to-speech feature speaks to you just like a back seat driver, telling you the names of streets and when to turn and in what direction. And if you happen to miss a turn--don't worry, the c340 automatically calculates a new route to your destination. I bought this gps knowing nothing about them,only the reviews I have read.I used this devise the first time a couple nights ago in a terrible rain storm.I had to drive from Va to Md due to a death in my family.I entered the information where I needed to go and took off.This thing was perfect,it got me through DC and all the road construction there and back.If you have ever traveled 495,295 50 etc you know this can be really confusing.But the street pilot worked perfectly and never screwed up once.If you don't have one of these you got to get it!You will never get lost again.

Product works excellent...covers Canada which many others do not.
Also several years ago I had a product by Garmin out of warranty..they fixed it twice at no charge !!!! I know this isn't the real world, but that's how Garmin thinks...they care about their customer.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 and have found it to be a fantastic product. Although prices have come down quite a bit since I bought it in July 2007, it's still a bit pricy. I was looking for a good unit to give as a gift, but I also wanted something that wasn't going to break the bank. After looking around a bit I decided on the Garmin c340. It was well priced with a few good features including text-to-speech which announces "Turn left on Elm Street", and not just "Turn Left". The two I gave my relatives are used frequently. They've had them for about a year now and so far they are very pleased with their c340. It lacks some of the bells & whistles that the more expensive nuvi models have, and it's bulky shape isn't as handy, but if your goal is to find an address or the travel necessities of fuel, food, etc., the c340 delivers very well for the money. For anyone who has been frustrated finding and downloading directions, or has missing their share of unmarked turns, the world of GPS is the best thing to come along since the Texaco Road Map. If you want to jump into GPS but don't want to go to the expense of a high end model, the c340 is a good value.

I bought this gps for my husband who is a truck driver. He goes all over the US and Canada. We need to upgrade the maps but, outside of that it has done the job it was made for. My husband has not got lost yet. He says that this is the easiest gps he has been around. It's easy to understand and the features it comes with are great. Thank You for shipping this out as early as you did. He really likes this product.
