Sony Blu-Ray Player January 10, 2009 Patricia Meme (North Royalton, OH) We have not used the player yet, but it arrived earlier than I expected. Thanks Amazon
there's a catch.... January 9, 2009 Muhair (Big Island) We've used our new Blu-Ray a few times and have no complaints.... except we had to go to Radio Shack buy a $70 cable ("not included") with which to hook it up. This was a "black Friday" purchase -- great price -- and don't know whether full-price units include the cable.
Creat Blu-ray player at the right price... January 9, 2009 B. VanOrden (Atlanta, GA) This is my first dive into blu-ray...I've always been into the cutting edge technology but have held out recently with the 1080P and blu ray release. I had the original rear projection lcd 1080i tvs. So over the holidays I purchased a 1080p lcd and this bluray player. For the price (I got this on the Black Friday sale for $150) it can't be beat. I've had no issues with the player recognizing any old dvd's. The upgrade of the software to 2.0 was very easy which I did downstairs on the computer before brining up to the room where it would be setup. The start up times on blurays is about 30 seconds which is ok for me. Blu ray quality is exceptional and I've been happy with the upconversion of the dvd's as well. I would say my best dvd player not a blu ray is the xbox 360 and I think the dvd quality out of the blu ray player is better which has to be due to the upconversion capability. All in all I'm very satisfied with this player and if you can ever find the $150 price again it's a no brainer. I would buy another one for another tv if I could find the price again...
Great image, sound problems? January 9, 2009 Pio Delcastillo The image is awesome, however I am having volume problems with some Blu Ray Disks. I have to crank my volume all the way up for some disks. I don't have surround sound or home theatre, I am only using the HDTV surround sound. I don't know if that is the issue and I have no idea how to download the new patches. I guess I have to read the manual. Other than Volume is a great piece of equipment.
