Product Description
Will the past become our future? Is humankind destined to repeat the events that occurred on another planet, far away from Earth? Zecharia Sitchin's bestselling series The Earth Chronicles provided humanity's side of the story-as recorded on ancient clay tablets and other Sumerian artifacts--concerning our origins at the hands of the Anunnaki, "those who from heaven to earth came." In The Lost Book of Enki, we can view this saga from a different perspective through this richly conceived autobiographical account of Lord Enki, an Anunnaki god, who tells the story of these extraterrestrials' arrival on Earth from the 12th planet Nibiru. The object of their colonization: gold to replenish the dying atmosphere of their home planet. Finding this precious metal results in the Anunnaki creation of homo sapiens--the human race--to mine this important resource.

In his previous works, Sitchin compiled the complete story of the Anunnaki's impact on human civilization in peacetime and in war from the fragments scattered throughout Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Hittite, Egyptian, Canaanite, and Hebrew sources--the "myths" of all ancient peoples in the old world as well as the new. Missing from these accounts, however, was the perspective of the Anunnaki themselves. What was life like on their own planet? What motives propelled them to settle on Earth-and what drove them from their new home? Convinced of the existence of a now lost book that formed the basis of ancient Sumerian texts holding the answers to these questions, the author began his search for evidence. Through exhaustive research of primary sources, he has here re-created tales as the memoirs of Enki, the leader of these first "astronauts." What takes shape is the story of a world of mounting tensions, deep rivalries, and sophisticated scientific knowledge that is only today being confirmed. An epic tale of gods and men unfolds, challenging every assumption we hold about our creation, our past, and our future.

5 out of 5 stars Why Not!   March 5, 2010
Richard Ayala
Another good book written by Sitchin, following in the line of his other works on Ancient Sumerian culture. My title is "why not" because the story line is much better and more believable than what we are supposed to believe in the Old and New Testament of the bible. If anything, gaps are filled in that are left out in the bible, and bible scholars are aware that the timeline and stories proposed in the bible are incomplete narratives and are at times only brief summaries taken from much older writings, presumably from ancient Sumer.

My advise to all? Keep an open and inquiring mind; something that the current establishment fears. Learn to question everything. The best advice I ever received was as an undergraduate student at University when told by a history professor to always question authoritative figures, especially those proclaiming to know the truth. Alway verify for yourself.

This was one of my favorite Sitchin books. It's worth your time and money.

4 out of 5 stars the creators of elves and men   February 4, 2010
silver elves (honolulu, hi.)
this book...
dear lovers of truth and faerie lore,
... is written in the style of the bible and gives explanation to areas of that work where its writers claimed to have interacted with the gods and angels and had even ridden in their chariots of fire to the heavens. If you have read Laurence Gardner's Realm of the Ring Lords: The Myth and Magic of the Grail Quest you also know that these same "gods" and "angels" are seen as the ancestors of the elf and faerie peoples. Told from the point of view of Enki, one of these extraterrestrial "gods", we are told how modern humanity came about and the various interactions and squabbles of these advanced beings. We do not say that these things are necessarily true, but they do explain much of what the ancients believed and why. It also indirectly gives much credence to Gnostic beliefs. Decide for yours'elf what the truth is.
kyela,
the silver elves

5 out of 5 stars If No Other, Read This Book Before You Die! Brilliant!   November 8, 2009

I am so grateful to have discovered the translations by Sitchin in my lifetime! I cannot fathom anyone rating The Lost Book of Enki with anything less than five stars, (would give it five-hundred stars if possible!)
These books constitute a great gift to mankind.

I suggest reading the series of seven Sitchin books before reading this one, (if that sounds like a chore... then perhaps you are at the wrong website? :) Sitchin throughout his career has had the great burden of proof
starting with his first book, "The Twelfth Planet", through to the seventh book, "The end of Days". In each of these the author painstakingly reveals the process of fitting the pieces of the historical puzzle together. He
discusses at great length the controversies over the interpretation of certain key words and their alternate possible interpretations, (the meaning of the word "Shem" for example originally thought to mean "name",
but reinterpreted as "missile" or "rocket", which then of course unlocks the meaning of countless other historical quotes.

What is different in this particular book is that after seven books of intricate proof, for once Sitchin can set aside this constant burden of proof and run at full gallop, hooray! It is a glorious tale, truly astounding,
and absolutely as accurate as possible. This reads more like a novel than any of the other Sitchin books, but unless you have read the previous works and realized the intricate process behind the interpretations,
you might think to yourself that this is only some fantastical work of crazy science fiction. Some of the reviews here criticize the author for the absence of proof, and to that I say then read the other seven books too!
Other criticisms write the book off as simply more of that "Ancient Astronauts" stuff, but these works are not like the books of previous authors merely suggesting that this or that rock carving, "looks like a space helmet"...
instead the great Secharia Sitchin kicks ass supplying not only names and numbers - but also family genealogies, conversations, specific dates, and landing coordinates! The depth and thoroughness of detail are quantum
leaps beyond the others!

Frankly I was stunned to see Sitchin poo-pooed here and on Wikipedia, as 'taking great liberties with interpretations and facts'; I can only surmise that the critics hold deep set religious beliefs that must conflict with history
as presented by the author, and that they must have something to loose if the writings of thousands of tablets from the past become better known today. Don't shoot the messenger people!
Instead of a criticism, perhaps it is his greatest asset, that like a true life Sherlock Holmes, Sitchin is able to connect disparate elements and scraps from historical tidbits of numerous languages and civilizations and then see
the big sweeping historical picture stand out better and brighter than any other modern day writer. Plain and simple, he is a brilliant man, and this certainly must induce the ire of some of his lesser talented colleagues.

Take all criticisms with a grain of salt, and read all the Sitchin writings that you can possibly get your hands on, and then decide for yourself. In fifty years on Earth I have never seen anything that even comes close to
explaining the beginning of the world and mankind the way Sitchin does. An interesting side effect of these readings for me has been new confidence in the Bible! These works explain so much in better detail, and give me a
much greater understanding of and appreciation for the Bible, (which I had already written-off as hocum pocum fantasy plagued with contradictions)... But let me be absolutely clear, these works are in greater detail than
the Bible, as the tablets and writings decoded herein predate the Bible by thousands of years. If I had to pick between them, I would choose Sitchin! (hands down!) (There is nothing anti-bible in Sitchin's works, instead he
teaches us why we should in fact respect it!

Some have criticized "The Lost Book of Enki" for its reverse sentence structure, (ie. talking like Yoda constantly it does) really people get over it! (who complains of Shakespeare's iambic pentameter??) Is "easy reading" more
important than access to the very best in-depth history of the actual unfolding of mankind? The Lost Book of Enki was written, "from the mouth of the great Lord Enki, not one word missed, not one word added, by the master
scribe Endubsar, a man of Eridu, son of Udbar" perhaps you should send your complaints to him?

Did you know that Lambs were not created on Earth? Or that the Great Pyramids were built before man roamed here? Have you wondered about the meaning and origin of Stonehenge? Do you know why the Dead Sea is
really dead?? Read, read, read Sitchin, stand tall, and think for yourself!
