I was thinking along the same lines. When I was waiting in line the other day to purchase an Apple iPhone, my young sons had to have rode the escalator up and down about 100 times.

There was a point where my husband stood in line while I rode back and forth with them on the escalator. My six-year-old moved ahead and got on the descending escalator, while his little brother and I attempted to get to the top.

Blake started to UP the downward escalator after he turned around. He was laughing and having a good time.

Just as Blake started running up a descending escalator, a young woman appeared at the top and exclaimed:

"I could never do that."

I just couldn't believe it. The woman seemed quite normal, youthful in good shape, yet, she let her mind hold her back.

It was a clarifying moment that occurred because of something simple.
You will never be able to accomplish something if you do not believe that you can.

After mentioning this to Mick Weber, my business partner at Genewize, he replied:

"Jenn, I'm sure that woman wouldn't think twice about running up the escalator to get her daughter if her daughter was at the top and needed her."

I'm sure he's correct.
