Rottweiler Health Problems To Look For

By: Sharon Davies

Part of the responsibility of owning a Rottweiler is becoming familiar with the common Rottweiler health problems that can occur with your dog. Some of the health issues are more of an inconvenience than anything else and others can be quite serious. If you take the time to become familiar with potential Rottweiler health problems then you can help your dog cope better if some of them come up and you need to act. It always helps to know what to tell the vet when you feel something is going wrong.

Knowing what you are looking for before it happens can help you to properly care for your Rottweiler better and can make you aware of the warning signs so that you know what to tell the vet.

Rottweilers shed like crazy and while this is not a real health problem it is still something that every owner should be aware of. Rottweilers have short coarse hair that can get into everything and does not come out without a fight so if you do not want to take up the battle of short dog fur all over your clothes then a Rottweiler may not be for you.

A Rottweiler will have a lot of gas if you do not feed it properly so be certain that you are getting your dog the proper diet for your sake and for the sake of everyone else that comes within range of your dog.

Another common Rottweiler health problem is bone and joint disease. A good diet can help strengthen bones and help them fight bone disease but sometimes it is in their genes and it cannot be helped. If you notice your dog having any difficulty at all in getting around then get your dog to the vet right away.

It can be a little confusing dealing with some Rottweiler health problems if you do not take the time to work with your vet and discuss these issues with them. While a good diet is extremely important to a Rottweiler so is the right amount of exercise. The problem is deciding how much exercise is the right amount for your dog.

However too much exercise can also cause problems so you need to take the time to find that happy medium. Talk with your vet and develop an exercise plan that can make your dog healthy without sustaining injury.

There are always health issues and warning signs to watch out for when you own any pet and that is especially true with a Rottweiler. A Rottweiler is more susceptible to cancer than many other breeds and it is health issues like this that you have to keep on the look out for so that you can make sure your dog is always happy and healthy for life.
