Besides a new coat of paint, the fastest method of improving a kitchen is by upgrading the countertops. Replacing your countertops, or even just resurfacing the original ones, can provide your kitchen with a fresh new look and turn an otherwise boring space into a newly styled area. When measuring the cabinets, it is easiest to do so at the base rather than measuring where the counter top juts out over the edge of the unit.

As soon as the new countertops arrive and you are ready to get started with the project, empty out everything from the cabinets beneath. This includes taking out the drawers and storing your pots and pans elsewhere for a while. Otherwise, you will have to wash everything off when you are finished with your renovation. Next, check beneath your existing counters to find the nails or screws holding them in place.

After you have successfully removed the old surface, make sure the tops of your cabinets are completely smoothed and cleaned. To do this, experts recommend that you use scraper as well as an electric sander to really remove all the debris. Put your new kitchen counter top where it belongs and attach it using the screws provided by the manufacturer. While these instructions may seem very simple, some of the stages actually can take quite a while to do correctly. Specifically, sanding your cabinetry can take quite a while before it is ready for your new surface.
