Andean Community

In the last 800 years the culture and the customs of the Andean community hadn’t changed much. Their traditional holding is especially strong for dances and music. There are more than 300 national dances. Isn’t it the reason to boast? Many of those unique dances are performed right on the streets during the festivals. Their music gained the world fame as well. Proving the style is 100% Incan, musicians use panflutes, as well common throughout the Andes. One may hear these divine sounds in Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia. But using folk ancient instruments doesn’t mean the Andeans had integrated nothing. They use modern instruments as well. Guitar is very popular. Modified by the Andean people, but actually based on the Spanish guitar, the so-called charango is also heard everywhere. Such instruments as violins, harps and various types of brasses are among the recent additions.

There are not many cultures that keep the ancient traditions as well as those living in South America. Though many tourists from all over the world come to see the sacred Lake Titicaca, the Andean people do not encounter the alien beliefs. And people in and out of Peru have a great respect for the Andean customs. And we may learn much from the people basing their way of life on the ancestors’ experience. For thousands of years the waters of the Lake Titicaca served as the life force of the Andean indigenous communities. The lake is supplied by more than 25 rivers, draining in it. Today’s generations safe the ancient traditions.
