An Ordinary Story Of An Ordinary Man

Lev Tolstoy's book, The Death of Ivan Ilych, tells about the life of an ordinary man who lives an ordinary life in Russia. His life was the most trouble-free and the most common and as a result most dreadful. His pitiable life is presignified at the opening of the narrative when his false friends were angry as to the difficulty of attendance of his memorial service and even his wife was really annoyed with him for involving her into the torture of the last days.
Not only a first name Ivan was enormously ordinary in Russia, but his way of life was also extremely typical. He had two brothers, studied at the law school when a teenager, and went through his ordinary life like a typical citizen. He had a wife, Praskovya Fedorovna Golovina, and was satisfied just about all pieces of life. The public accepted him and allowed to persist on his search for ordinariness. Ivan made a career and has the highest paying position in the town and he went to purchase and to equip a house. During this trip he fell from the ladder and hit his side.
At that time, his position in society was just in the middle. Ivan was satisfied with his relatives and his job. His entire life was predetermined, by doing all the stuff a loyal citizen should do. At the end the irrelevance of his life was illustrated through the irritation of his beloved wife. If the relatives commence to wish he was dead, then he has nothing to live for. Even though Ivan achieves high opinion of the authorities, he wastes the deference of the reader because he goes on his useless existence and keeps making the judgments based on his society’s principles.
