A Nowadays Woman

By: Andrew Schwartz

Simone De Beauvoir‘s book The Second Sex shows greatly why females are usually second-rated to males. Her analyses are important in the understanding of a classic woman's "task" in society. But nowadays everything is rather different. For myself I like being a woman. I do get pleasure from dressing-up, wearing cosmetics and cooking. I want to get married and to become a mother. I adore beautifying my flat and purchasing home stuff.
I believe Beauvoir is obsolete. She gives a good vision of how it was. Nowadays women have moved forward greatly. We are soldiers, bankers and business ladies. We can do everything. It is at times hard to break some stereotypes, and there still exist prejudice males. But lots of people understand females are just as talented as males.
The book says that through two decades of waiting and hoping, the young woman treasures the fable of the liberating rescuer-hero, and thus the freedom she got through work is not sufficient to put an end to her wish for magnificent abdication. A girl should be brought up closely like a boy to with no trouble to conquer her childly egotism; but if not, in grown-up life a girl persists this cult of the selfness toward which her entire early life had tended. She makes use of her professional achievements as merits for the fortification of her image.
Women are no more exploited as wholly as they previously were. Things have altered to a great extent. Women obtained high opinion in all areas. I oppose Beauvior's thought of sex being an abuse upon women. Women are as attracted to sex as men are. Sex these days is a multi-million business and it is oiled by both men and women. Sure there are some obstructions in front of females. To triumph over those difficulties is a great victory.
