A Guide To Getting Ink

By: Boris Gibson

It was not that long ago that tattoos were the art of the rebel. Well, it is pretty amazing how quickly things have changed. If you are jumping on the ink bandwagon, make sure you take the following into account.

If this is your first tattoo, a word of caution is called for. Getting ink is pretty trendy these days, but that does not change the fact you are getting something that is permanent. Make sure you are not bummed you did it.

Another thing to consider is the location of the tat. You might be tempted to get one on your neck, head, lower arms or wherever. While this is cool today, will it be in 10 years? Again, think through what you are doing.

Once you take the leap and decide to get inked, you need to consider what you want to put on your body. Tat designs are a dime a dozen, which can lead people to make hap hazardous selections. Do not do this.

Many people walk into tattoo parlors and start looking through the books of free designs trying to figure out what they want. In general, this is a mistake. The designs might appeal to you right away, but what about after a few months or years?

Getting the right tattoo is no sure thing. One way to make it more likely you will be happy years down the line is to get your own design that reflects something about you. Going with something out of a book is not doing this.

While the tattoo design is important, the actual person who does the tattoo is equally so. If you just charge in a plop down with any artist in the local ink shop, you run the risk of getting a bad result.

More importantly, being comfortable with the artists goes along way to getting a good result. If you both have the same vibe, you probably have similar views. This means the details of the tat are going to be more aligned to your personal views and tastes.

The one area that you do not want to consider when getting a tattoo is price. You get what you pay for in life and the same goes for tattoos. Since your ink is going to be permanent, spend the extra money to get a killer design.
