Let’s consider the following scenario. On a sunny afternoon a young lady who is having a problem with her weight is hunting for information on “how to lose weight”.
She browses to Google and types in “weight loss solution” and is taken to your site because your site is ranking at #1 for this keyword.
When she arrives on your site she reads a compelling sales letter and chooses to  the product you’re selling. However just as she is about to make the buy there is a power blackout and her computer goes black.
When the power is restored 1 hour later, she has visitors and totally forgets about your product - unless you had taken her email address with an autoresponder.
Once you have captured your prospect’s details your autoresponder can follow up with her, and in all probability, make the sale when the lady checks her email.
An autoresponder is a useful and versatile software that does so much more than just respond to your email.
Here are 15 powerful ideas that will help you to use your autoresponder to transform the casual browser into a profitable customer.
1. Publish a newsletter. A quality autoresponder will manage your subscriptions for you and follow-up with interested leads. Your newsletter will tell your visitors about your products and services, while fostering your reputation as an expert in your particular area of business.
2. Produce a newsletter only for your affiliates that tell them of current promotions you are doing and of material that they can use themselves to raise their commissions. Also include tips, advice, and techniques for your affiliates that they can employ to go out and promote your business successfully.
3. Review ebooks, software, music, movies as well as videos that relate to your particular niche and put each review in an autoresponder. Allow your affiliates to put their affiliates to link with their affiliate ID’s to the autoresponder so that they can earn a commission whenever they make a sale.

6. Automate your sales process by using an ad to ensure repeated exposure of your message. This has been proven to explode sales. Put your autoresponder address in your ad, where a visitor will see your sales message rpeatedly.
This raises your chances of converting visitors into customers. Here is an example, if you're selling a particular product, place testimonials about the product on your autoresponder, coupled with an enticing description of your product.
7. Distribute info about advertising rates via autoresponder to your subscribers, including special deals you may be offering.
8. Distribute an email course, by sending out 1 lesson per day. Just make sure that each lesson contains quality content, and not a sales pitch.
Rest assured that your content will do the selling for you, and will do so much more effectively. Include tips that focus on a different topic for each lesson, illustrating how your product will benefit the reader. Stress the tangible benefits the visitor will receive by buying your product.
Always add a paragraph or two at the end of every lesson asking your prospect to consider purchasing
