"who's The Boss?" - 10 Ways On How To Commence Taking Control (time Management, Record Tracking, Goal Setting)

At initial look, it would seem that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with each other. However many of us with ADD develop negative ways of thinking due to the fact that we start to become frustrated by our challenges and many times feelings of being overwhelmed. This negativeoutlook then makes it even harder for anyone to manage those challenges we face and proceed in the right direction.

Doing positive thinking allows anyone with ADD to focus on strengths and achievements, which increases motivation and happiness. This, in turn, allows one to allow more time making progress, and a lot less time feeling down and stuck. The tips that follow provide practical suggestions that you can use to help youmove into thinking patterns that are more positive:

1. Be Sure to Take Good Care of Yourself

It's considerably easier to be positive when a person is eating well, getting enough rest, and exercising.

2. Tell Yourself About the Things For Which You are Grateful

Strains and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you arein the habit of reminding yourself of the things which are right in life. Taking just a minute every day to stop and take the time to appreciate the good things will make avery huge difference.

3. Look for the Proof, Don't Make Assumptions

A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes makes us assume that we know what others could bethinking, but our fears are usually not realistic. If you have a fear that a family member or friend's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are gossiping behind your back secretly, speak up and ask them. Don't spend wasted time concerned that you did anything wrong unless you can come up with some proof that there is truly something to worry about.

4. Stay Away from Using Absolutes

Have you ever said to a friend or loved one "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a loved one "You NEVER call me!"? Speaking or thinking in absolutes such as 'always' and 'never' makes things seem worse than they are, and puts programming in your brain that makes you believe that certain people can't deliver.

5. Refrain From Negative Thoughts

Any thoughts you may have can't gain any power over you if you don't allow them. Should you notice yourself formulating a negative thought, be sure to detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it.

6. Step on the "ANTS"

In the book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen speaks about Automatic Negative Thoughts - "ANTS". These are the bad thoughts that are often reactionary, such as "these people over there are laughing, it's a good bet they are talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you encounter these kinds of thoughts, realize that they are only ANTs and crush them!

7. Practice Touchin', Lovin' and Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family)

There's no requirement for you to be an expert to have an appreciation of the benefits of a warm hug. Having positive physical contact with loved ones, friends, and even pets, is an instant boost. A research project on this particular subject had a waitress touching some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from anybody she didn't touch!

8. Get Yourself Involved in More Social Activity

By increasing social activity, you reduce loneliness. Surround yourself with happy, healthy people, and the positive energy they give off will have a positive effect on you!

9. Make a Difference by Volunteering for an Organization, or by Helping Another Person

Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your money, your resources, or your time. The more positive energy you inject into the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. To Combat Rumination Use Pattern Interrups

If you start ruminating, a proven way of stopping it is to interrupt your pattern and force yourself to do something that's completely different. Rumination is like super focus on something that's negative. Rumination's never productive, because it's not solution-oriented or rational, it's only extreme worry. Try changing your physical environment - take a walk or sit outside. You could also turn on some music, pick up a book, or call a friend.

When considering the corporate world, protocol is pretty much observed and followed like a religion. To know the things that must be done represents the basics of productivity, but possessing a steady mind and interaction comprises the entire thing to allow true productivity. There are some people who appear to work well even when under pressure, but they're not common ones and we are just human and therefore are imperfect. To get these little things like stress under our skins, it will not solve any of our problems. Sometimes it calls for some courage to be totally honest with oneself and face the fact that we're starting to turn into workaholics than admit to ourselves that we're not performing at peak level.
